How to Change the Bank Account for a QuickBooks Check
A reader wrote to ask how to change the bank account used for a check. She uses the QuickBooks Write Checks feature to record checks she writes manually. One of the checks was inadvertently written from the money market account instead of the checking account. She wants to know how to create a journal entry to straighten out the mistake.
You don't have to create a journal entry, just open the check by double-clicking its listing in the money market account. At the top of the Check window, change the account. QuickBooks will move the transaction to the checking account. That's all you have to do; except you have to remember to keep an eye on the account listed at the top of the Write Checks window whenever you're recording checks.
