Use Your Own Jargon for Job Status in QuickBooks
QuickBooks allows you to set the terminology you want to use for tracking jobs. The default terms used in QuickBooks are Pending, Awarded, In progress, Closed, and Not awarded, but you can change it to the terminology you generally use within your organization (your jargon) to specify the status. For example, if your jobs are mostly grants, you may want to use “Grant Applied For” as the text for pending jobs. Later, when you edit a job and display the Job Status drop-down list, your own language will be the terms that can you can choose from. To set the job status descriptions you prefer for your business:
- Choose Edit | Preferences from the QuickBooks menu bar.
- Click the Jobs & Estimates icon on the left pane and then click the Company Preferences tab.
- Enter the description that you prefer in the text box to the right of each term and then click OK to save these settings.
