How to Edit the QuickBooks Customer Message List
A reader wrote asking how to get rid of the glut of customer messages that appear in the drop-down list of the Customer Message field on QuickBooks sales transaction windows. She says that users add messages constantly, and she not only wants to stop that practice, she wants to reduce the drop-down list to a few useful messages.
Customer Messages are stored in a QuickBooks list, which you open by choosing Lists | Customer & Vendor Profile Lists | Customer Message List. As with other QuickBooks lists, you can delete or hide entries. QuickBooks won't let you delete a message that was used in a transaction, but if you mark the message Inactive it won't appear in the drop-down list.
